It had been days and Jack had been keeping track of Logan. The young man had no money, no access to his accounts, no key card to the penthouse, no car, no resources, and he didn't even know how to use his phone. But Jack knew and while he gave Logan time he watched him on CCTV to make sure he was safe. Relatively.
But days had passed and he knew Logan had to be hungry, had to be exhausted trying to be homeless on the streets of London, and when he saw a dispatch for police to Logan's location Jack bolted to the SUV and he got there just as the police arrived.
"Torchwood," he said, flashing his ID. "I'll handle it."

Date: 2015-06-03 03:38 pm (UTC)Logan rolled his eyes again, but didn't argue. Honestly, he wouldn't admit it to Jack, but he was just a little excited to see what the man did all day now that he wasn't the island's Casanova.

Date: 2015-06-03 03:44 pm (UTC)Jack took him to the SUV and headed out into the traffic that only grew thicker as they entered the city proper, the heart of it.
"How are you coming with your phone? Have you gotten onto the computer?"

Date: 2015-06-03 04:05 pm (UTC)"No. I did discover instagram though," he grinned, holding up his phone to show off a photo he'd shared of himself flexing in the mirror.

Date: 2015-06-03 10:13 pm (UTC)"Oh great, you jumped right into social media," Jack chuckled. "Nice picture."

Date: 2015-06-04 03:46 pm (UTC)Logan laughed, tucking his phone away and getting comfortable.
"This car's nice, man. Do I have a ride here?" he asked.

Date: 2015-06-04 04:23 pm (UTC)"You haven't bought one yet, but you always can," he replied.

Date: 2015-06-04 05:15 pm (UTC)"Yeah? Maybe I'll get a convertible," Logan grinned.

Date: 2015-06-04 05:17 pm (UTC)"A little two seater?" Jack asked. "About an inch off the ground with about five thousand horsepower?"

Date: 2015-06-04 05:19 pm (UTC)"Sounds about right. I mean, it's not like I need something to shove my board into any more," he sighed.

Date: 2015-06-04 05:21 pm (UTC)"You could go home, you know. Or move to Hawaii. Or Australia. I know there's no surfing the Thames but you're not trapped here, Logan," Jack pointed out, much as it pained him to do so.

Date: 2015-06-04 09:26 pm (UTC)"Yeah. I mean- Yeah, I could," Logan shrugged, wondering if that was a hint. Maybe Jack didn't really want this version of him hanging around.

Date: 2015-06-04 09:54 pm (UTC)"The world is your oyster, Logan," Jack said, then looked over and smiled. "Maybe I can tempt you to stick around here. Maybe."

Date: 2015-06-04 10:38 pm (UTC)"Do you even really want me here?" Logan asked. "You were ready to walk out the other night."

Date: 2015-06-04 10:50 pm (UTC)"I do. I actually really do. But I won't force you to stay," Jack said. "And I get that you need time to adjust to this world."

Date: 2015-06-05 04:55 am (UTC)Logan was silent for a long moment, then shrugged one shoulder. "I'm not in any rush to go," he said softly.

Date: 2015-06-05 10:37 am (UTC)Jack smiled at that. It started small, just a twitch at the corner of his mouth, then before long he was beaming. But he didn't say anything about how very happy that small admission made him.
It was obvious anyway.

Date: 2015-06-05 02:06 pm (UTC)Still, he was silent for the rest of the drive, and he seemed much less aloof.

Date: 2015-06-05 03:08 pm (UTC)There was a huge steel and glass building with a multilevel car park beside it. Jack pulled in but went down the ramp, down and down and finally pulled into an empty spot on a deserted level next to a lift.
"Here we are," he said. :Follow me."
And he got out and went to the lift where he had to have his palm scanned as well as his retina before it would open.

Date: 2015-06-05 05:41 pm (UTC)Torchwood had the most high tech systems available, mostly because parts of it weren't terrestrial. Jack lead the way into what had been catacombs which had been primped and polished by generations past. And upgraded to the modern day via the conduits drilled into the walls and run around the area.
"This is just a small portion of the hub," he said, leading Logan to computer terminals. "The whole outfit spreads out under the city for miles. This is where Torchwood keeps its best...and worst...secrets."

Date: 2015-06-05 08:55 pm (UTC)Logan looked around as he stepped inside, taking it all in, then glancing back at Jack.
"I've seen bigger,"he quipped.

Date: 2015-06-05 10:21 pm (UTC)"Oh, you have, have you?" Jack chuckled, then shook his head. "That's your terminal. The you that was here before. He worked for Torchwood, beginning stuff, a lot of data entry, but I took him out on things, too. If you want it...it's yours. Have you ever wanted to have a real purpose, Logan? Have you ever wanted to save something? Someone? The world? I'm offering you that."

Date: 2015-06-05 10:49 pm (UTC)"Why do I feel like I'm being sold a used car?" Logan asked dryly- though he did make his way over to the terminal. It was strange, but It felt like it belonged to him.
He shivered a bit, and he couldn't see it himself, but residual energy sparked off his skin. Something was still happening. Still changing. As if the universe was trying to get everything lined up correctly still.
Somewhere an alarm went off, and Logan jumped a little.

Date: 2015-06-05 10:52 pm (UTC)"Uh oh," Jack said and rushed to a station. He picked up a device no bigger than a phone and looked at the readings. "There's a spike in energy in here," he said. "I hate when this happens...it could be anything."
But it wasn't just anything. As Jack moved closer to Logan the device lit up.
