It had been days and Jack had been keeping track of Logan. The young man had no money, no access to his accounts, no key card to the penthouse, no car, no resources, and he didn't even know how to use his phone. But Jack knew and while he gave Logan time he watched him on CCTV to make sure he was safe. Relatively.

But days had passed and he knew Logan had to be hungry, had to be exhausted trying to be homeless on the streets of London, and when he saw a dispatch for police to Logan's location Jack bolted to the SUV and he got there just as the police arrived.

"Torchwood," he said, flashing his ID. "I'll handle it."

Jack moved off him then and settled in beside him on the bed. He took a deep breath and exhaled.

"About two thousand and seventy five, give or take," he replied.

Logan was silent for a long moment, taking that in and trying to fully process just how big an age difference that was.

"So... You're not a dirty old man. You're, like, full on super perv, huh?" he said finally, trying to make light of it.

"I guess so, yeah," he replied, realizing it was a lot to take in. He'd never even told Ianto how old he really was. Only Torchwood knew and he didn't even know if anyone looked at his file anymore.

"Too old?" he asked.

[logan_echolls]

"You don't look old. I mean- You don't look that old. I don't know. I mean, am I too young?" he asked. "I figure you get past a thousand and it doesn't matter anymore. That's not an age gap, that's something totally different. Not in, like, a bad way, just- Different."

"You're not too young," Jack replied. He twisted to face Logan and touched him with a slow hand.

"For the record, for nineteen hundred of those years I was buried alive so it's not like..." he said, but cut himself off, realizing there was no real justification in the morbid confession.

"Jesus," Logan said, pulling away slightly. "So it's not like what? You lived? I don't think that's better Jack."

That kind of thing... It had to make a person just a little out of touch. A bit mad.

Eventually he relaxed again, looking a bit unsure of himself as his finger's brushed against Jack's.

Jack slowly laced his fingers with Logan's.

"It was penance," he said. "Penance for a terrible mistake I make when I was a boy. I think you're right...it's not really better. It just...is."

Logan fell silent at that, not sure what to say to that. His Jack had never told him anything like that. ...Then again, they tended to throw punches rather than chat.

"This is a fucked up mess, huh?" he said finally.

"Kind of, but nothing we can't survive. I've been through a lot of really weird things, Logan. This isn't so bad," he assured him.

Logan glanced over, then nodded a little, studying Jack's profile before leaning in and pressing a soft kiss just below his ear.

"Jerk," he whispered, before pulling Jack down to lay with him on the bed.

"I'm exhausted," he confessed.

The frenzy of desire had ebbed and Jack moved to get up.

"You should get some sleep," he said. "I'll hang the do not disturb on the door and you can sleep as long as you want."

"Okay, but- Come back after," Logan insisted, starting to strip out of the last of his clothes, until he was stark naked. After being on the island so long, he wasn't too bashful about being totally bare.

Jack watched, then finally tore his gaze away so he could find his shirt and get dressed again.

"I'll give you twelve hours, then I'll be back," he promised.

Logan had actually hoped Jack would stay, but he didn't push. Instead he just nodded.

"Alright. I'll see you then. ...'Night Harkness."

Though part of him was certain Jack was just unloading him for good.

Once he was dressed he came to the edge of the bed. He tugged the covers up to Logan's chin and leaned over to kiss his forehead.

"Get some good sleep," he said. "When you wake up I'll show you my world."

Logan nodded a bit, confused by the kindness, then rolling onto his side.

He drifted off easily though, the comfort of the bed cradling him and making it so he slept well through to the morning.

Precisely twelve hours on the dot and Jack knocked twice and let himself in with the keycard.

"You up?" he called from the doorway into the dark suite.

Logan had been awake for a little while, and after spending an hour learning to use his phone, he'd turned on the TV to catch up on the news.

"Yeah, I'm up. I even put pants on."

"You're ahead of some of the world," Jack quipped. "Put on your shoes. I'm taking you somewhere."

[logan_echolls]

"It better not be Euro Disney or something," Logan replied, clicking off the TV and getting to his feet. "So not in the mood for a French Donald Duck."

"Why in God's name would I take you to Euro Disney?" Jack chuckled. "No...we're going to Torchwood."

[logan_echolls]

"Pass. You told me about that place once. Sounded like a good place to go to end up..."

He trailed off, then wet his lips. "Why are you even doing that stuff still?"

"What else am I supposed to do, Logan? My training is pretty specific. And it's exciting. And I get to protect mankind. It beats being a temp or working in a shop," he replied.

[logan_echolls]

"You could just travel. Find some pretty guy or girl- Or one of each- Enjoy them on every continent," Logan shrugged.

"I need money, Logan," Jack said. Though he'd been at this for years and his expenses were few. He had quite a savings built up and had made some very wise investments.
